Apparently the Polish Army is promising an investigation following the release of a video showing Polish troops blowing up an Afghan home. An officer serving at the time told the Polish daily that released the report that “it was done for fun.”
It looks like Polish soldiers may have been doing this fairly regularly, and that blowing up huts in rural Afghanistan was a popular passtime for them. Poland has around 2,600 troops in Afghanistan at the moment, which is its largest foreign deployment.
Is it likely the troops checked to see if there was anyone at home before they blew up these homes? Afghan homes are often full of children. What happened to them? Collateral damage?
We already know the answer to that question, don’t we?
Will anyone be held accountable? Unfortunately, we know the answer to that question too.
